The Victoria Women’s Centre Announces the #JeMérite 2019 Scholarship Recipient

Vickie Glazer-Martin has been chosen to receive the Victoria Women’s Centre #JeMérite 2019 scholarship. This scholarship is intended to financially support a woman who has overcome numerous obstacles in her life while pursuing post-secondary education. Vickie Glazer-Martin has demonstrated unparalleled resilience in completing her first year of the Bachelor of Social Work program at Laurentian University.

In her own words, she says: “I am who I am and I wouldn’t change anything because it is through my mistakes, my highs, my lows, my challenges, and my successes that I have become a stronger, wiser woman and embarked on my studies in social work.”

Despite significant and persistent obstacles throughout her life journey, Vickie has committed to her own well-being as well as that of her two children. In addition to her many responsibilities, she has found time to organize a fundraiser for a cause close to her heart, provide mentoring, and support one of the Centre’s annual events.

In her own words: “For a young woman like me to find love, it must first start with oneself/self-love. Today, I believe in myself…” With this scholarship, the board members and staff of the Victoria Women’s Centre want to say to her, “We believe in you, Vickie.”
