We’re proud to share that our intern, Zoé Richard, has won two scholarships and two excellence awards! Graduating in April 2025 in Social Work, she plans to pursue Psychology with a focus on Behavioral Psychology.
Zoé received:
• Cambrian Student Council Involvement Bursary
• Sudbury Masters Running Club Bursary
• Christopher Peach Memorial Award
• Most Improved Cross-Country Athlete
A black belt in martial arts, Zoé also organized her very first self-defense workshop at the Centre Victoria pour femmes, where participants learned how to defend themselves by discovering the basics of verbal and physical self-defense. The workshop also helped them build confidence and prepare mentally to respond in an aggressive situation.
Zoé, we are proud to have you with us. Keep going, and never lose your smile or your passion for helping others. We wish you success in all your future endeavors. Congratulations!
Centre Victoria pour femmes’ (CVF) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Josée Miljours has been appointed Acting Executive Director at Centre Victoria pour femmes during the absence of current Executive Director, Mireille Charlebois. Mireille will step away from her duties as of February 1st, 2025 for approximately six (6) months due to maternity leave.
As CVF’s Violence Against Women Program Supervisor, Josée is no stranger to the organization’s values and priorities. While Mireille enjoys cherished moments with her newest family member, Josée will provide leadership in our role as a feminist leader, her years of experience in social services, including elder abuse and violence against women being an asset to this role.
Please join us in welcoming Josée to this position and wishing Mireille the best as she navigates motherhood.
If you would like to contact Josée Miljours, you can reach her at josee.miljours@centrevictoria.ca or 705-670-2517 ext. 107.

The Centre Victoria pour femmes has decided to archive its X account, formerly known as Twitter, and will no longer post on the platform starting November 25, 2024.
The CVF opposes this platform, which promotes racism, misogyny, misinformation, and violence in all its forms. The benefits of being present on X are now outweighed by the drawbacks, as the platform has become increasingly problematic in recent years. Among several factors, we observe that the content allowed and amplified on this platform is concerning, its algorithms encourage misinformation and propaganda, and the recent decision by X to change its blocking feature further puts users at risk. We believe the platform contradicts the values of the CVF. Our resources will be better used to promote our work and advocacy elsewhere.
The CVF remains active on its website and its Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts.

Centre Victoria pour femmes is proud to have received the Police Community Leader Award, in recognition of the CVFs collaboration and participation in the Sexual Assault Review Committee.
This committee is composed of members from the Centre Victoria pour femmes, Looking Ahead to Build the Spirit of Our Women – Learning to Live Free From Violence Project (N’Swakamok Native Friendship Centre/Greater Sudbury Police Service), Sudbury & Area Victim Services, Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (Health Sciences North / Horizon Santé-Nord), and YWCA Sudbury Genevra House.
The committee’s mandate is to review sexual assault cases deemed unfounded, with the aim of improving police interventions with victims by providing a gendered analysis and addressing the specific nature of violence against women.
