Centre Victoria pour femmes stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement

The fight against sexism and violence against women is closely linked to the fight against racism, homophobia, transphobia, and oppression. From a feminist perspective, intersectionality makes it possible to recognize differences among women, including the privileges that also exist within feminism. Intersectionality brings visibility to women who experience both sexism and racism and, by extension, classism, homophobia, transphobia, colonialism, and more.
Racism is still very present in Canada. Being an ally is not limited to “not being racist.” To support the Black Lives Matter movement and challenge racial discrimination, we must adopt anti-racist practices. We must all continue to listen, learn, share resources, support one another, and take action to help eliminate all forms of oppression in our communities and institutions. We all have a role to play.
Centre Victoria pour femmes works toward healthy, violence-free living conditions. We all have the right to safety, respect, equality and diversity, self-determination, individuality, and the reclaiming of both individual and collective power.
