Centre Victoria pour femmes supports an autonomous French-language university.

At the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Centre Victoria for Women (CVF) on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, the following motion was adopted:
- Whereas CVF is an organization fully run by, for, and with Francophone women;
- Whereas the survival of our organization and our Francophone communities depends on a strong and thriving community;
- Whereas we believe it is essential to educate our communities where they live and are engaged;
- Whereas we know that the only real and lasting way to guarantee our rights to full autonomy has been demonstrated through independently governed organizations;
It is resolved that CVF wishes to express its strong and collective support for all community efforts underway in Sudbury to create a university by, for, and with Francophones of Northern Ontario;
and
It is further resolved that CVF supports the Northern Ontario Coalition for a French-Language University.
CVF is dedicated to supporting Francophone women in the Sudbury and Algoma districts who are facing all forms of gender-based violence. Our centre has existed for over 25 years and is part of a network of similar organizations that emerged in the early 1990s across Ontario through collective advocacy for autonomous French-language services.
About the Centre Victoria for Women – The Centre Victoria for Women is a non-profit organization working to address all forms of violence against women. Its services are free and confidential.
