CVF Receives the Organization Award at the « Soirée Saphir 2026 »

Le Centre Victoria pour femmes reçoit le prix Organisme lors de la Soirée Saphir 2026. Intervenante Roselyne Kouakou, et Directrice Mireille Charlebois

Centre Victoria pour femmes received the Organization Award at the « Soirée Saphir 2026 », held at Collège Boréal on Saturday, April 18, as part of the 40th anniversary of the Fondation franco-ontarienne.

The past thirty-some years would not have been possible without the tremendous work of women in our communities. From 1993 to 1995, women worked tirelessly to secure provincial government funding for the development of organizations then known as CALACS (centres d’aide et de lutte aux agressions à caractère sexuel). It was on July 17, 1995, that Centre Victoria pour femmes was officially established. Its creation became an important model for the Francophone community, for women, and for the communities of Sudbury, Elliot Lake, Sault Ste. Marie, and Wawa.

Many women have contributed to the growth of Centre Victoria pour femmes over the years—through its board members, staff, managers, and frontline workers who provided direct services, as well as its volunteers, interns, friends, allies, community partners, funders, and the women who have used its services.

This nomination is a meaningful recognition of the work of Centre Victoria pour femmes and of all those who have worked—and continue to work—within the feminist movement to end violence against women.

We are proud to have been recognized among so many exceptional women in celebrating women’s excellence. Thank you, a thousand times, thank you.
