Gaëtane Pharand receives the Attorney General’s Victim Services Award of Distinction

Centre Victoria pour femmes is proud to announce that its Executive Director, Gaëtane Pharand, has received the Attorney General’s Victim Services Award of Distinction.
Ms. Pharand, along with 19 other recipients from across the province, was recognized this morning at a ceremony at Queen’s Park in Toronto, in honour of their exceptional work on behalf of victims of crime in Ontario.
Gaëtane Pharand is the founding Executive Director of the Centre Victoria pour femmes (CVF), an organization addressing violence against women that provides services in the Sudbury and Algoma districts. This year marks her 25th year with CVF. Her background in human rights and violence against women has made her a strong community leader. She served as president of the provincial francophone coalition Action ontarienne contre la violence faite aux femmes (AOcVF) for a decade and continues to support its advocacy work. Ms. Pharand also served on the Provincial Domestic Violence Advisory Council in 2007. She has played an important role in the development of numerous women’s organizations and has served on the boards of many francophone organizations. She has also contributed to strengthening French-language services in Northern Ontario, using her communication skills and experience while sharing her commitment to supporting victims of gender-based violence.
Bibiane Tremblay-Matte, Chair of the CVF Board of Directors, adds: “We are very proud that the Attorney General’s Award of Distinction recognizes the achievements and commitment of our Executive Director, Gaëtane Pharand. This is an honour for the Centre Victoria pour femmes and for everyone connected to it.”
The Attorney General’s Victim Services Award of Distinction recognizes outstanding contributions by professionals and volunteers in the field of victim services, as well as the important role of victims themselves. The award also encourages the sharing of best practices among victim service professionals and volunteers across the province.
