Centre Victoria pour femmes is pleased to unveil the selected designs from the creative contest: Valeurs en couleur! Our selection committee had the challenging task of reviewing all submissions and evaluating them according to the contest criteria. Thank you to all our creators for fully investing themselves in this activity and for sharing your designs. In total, we received 17 submissions, each of them reflecting the core values of the contest. The final choices were not easy, but we are happy to present the designs that made the strongest impression on us. While we initially had only three categories (youth, community, and survivor), the submissions in the youth category truly impressed us. We therefore chose to retain two designs for the youth category.

We invite you to discover the designs, which are now available for pre-order!

Youth category: Lauryn Bumstead

This design, created by Lauren Bumstead, captures attention with a lotus flower symbolizing the heart and mind. Green vines surround it, evoking hope. In each corner, every symbol has meaning: fire for strength, the symbol of women, the number 8 referencing International Women’s Day, and a heart for empathy. Each element comes together to complete the design and deliver a powerful message. Lauryn Bumstead is 14 years old and lives in Wawa, near Lake Superior. She enjoys reading, dancing, and listening to music. She also spends time with friends, cooks, bakes, and has an interest in art.

Youth category: Makayla Gingras

Makayla Gingras explains that she used a symbol representing women at the centre of her flower. She included words that celebrate and uplift women today. The colours she used are yellow, white, purple, and green, which represent hope, dignity, purity, and optimism.

Centre Victoria pour femmes - Concours créatif: Valeurs en couleur - Mijanou Gaboury-Fantin

Community category: Mijanou Gaboury-Fantin

Mijanou Gaboury-Fantin explains that her design is inspired by collective strength: the words form a heart, symbolizing unity. Courage, equality, and solidarity represent feminism and reflect Centre Victoria pour femmes’ commitment to supporting, protecting, and empowering women. Mijanou is a creative and engaged woman who carries both her design and her feminism with pride. Partner of Dr. C. Mathieu Fantin, mother of two teenage daughters, and an art teacher at École élémentaire Jean-Paul II, she places art at the centre of her daily life. In her classroom, she creates a space where young people can explore, try new things, and express themselves freely.

Survivor category: Mireille Sturgeon

This design, by Mireille Sturgeon, represents diversity, inclusion, and solidarity among women. The characters, each different from one another, hold hands to symbolize unity, while the balloons illustrate themes such as pride, strength, love, and cultural diversity. Mireille is a positive force who encourages the women around her. She draws, knits, does cross-stitch, and explores various creative activities. Through services with CVF, she strengthened her self-esteem through exchanges with other women. She says that this space has changed her life.
