Become a Member of the Board of Directors
Centre Victoria pour femmes is a non-profit organization that supports, accompanies and advocates for the autonomy of all Francophone women who have experienced, are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing gender-based violence.
We are looking for a French-speaking woman from Greater Sudbury or the District of Algoma who would like to volunteer on our board of directors.
Requirements
- An interest in women’s issues.
- An interest in the governance of a non-profit organization working in the field of violence against women.
- An interest and/or understanding of the diverse needs and interests of the communities to be served.
- A minimum of 3 hours per month to read, attend board meetings and participate in committees.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
The term of office on the board of directors is three (3) years. Members must actively participate on board committees. Board meetings are held in person (in Sudbury) or by videoconference. Communication between meetings is generally carried out by email. This position is not remunerated, but personal expenses related to the performance of the duties of a director may be reimbursed (e.g. babysitting, travel, accommodation, meals).

- CVF uses a feminist approach, which aims to support women throughout their journey at their own pace and in accordance with their choices, without imposing decisions on them.
- CVF is a pro-choice organization that respects and supports women’s right to access comprehensive, high-quality sexual and reproductive health information and services, including free access to preventive and emergency contraception and safe, legal abortion.
- CVF supports an abolitionist position regarding the legalization of prostitution, recognizing the sexual exploitation experienced by girls and women. This position is not intended to further marginalize women who identify as sex workers. All women are entitled to access our services.
- CVF is committed to advocating for the rights of diverse communities, including the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, Indigenous communities, racialized and visible minority communities, people with disabilities, and other equity-deserving groups.
- CVF is non-partisan and non-denominational. It is not affiliated with any political party or religious denomination and is committed to maintaining its independence in these matters.
